4 Months Gone!

It's been 4 months since my VSG on July 1st. I am down exactly 70 pounds as of today. I only had one stall at 14 weeks that lasted a little over a week. I'm finally getting in my protein and water. Keeping carbs low the majority of the time. Down from size 2XL plus size tops to regular xl, from size TIGHT 24 pants to 18 (finally found some good jeans at Old Navy to flatter my flat rear!). I bought some SKINNY JEANS today (Thanks, ravenbrown, for the push!). Able to wear my favorite rings and bracelets again. Able to wear BOOTS!! And, the biggest NSV that I've had since surgery has been my short pixie haircut :) My face is finally thin enough that it doesn't make me self-conscious. I LOVE IT.

Thanks to everyone here for your continued support and constant reminders that this is a marathon, not a sprint.

Have I mentioned lately that I LOVE MY SLEEVE??

Congratulations!!

Sadly, I can't get out of my own way....I've lost close to 50 lbs but having a lengthy stall.  I am a Senior lady so losing is much slower.   It does make me sad to see the scale not go lower.   vsg on 7/30/13....i am following all the drs. protocol.  Have been quite sick at the very beginning but I feel now I can get more water in and alittle more food.

I am sorry to vent here....Just got carried away.

Congrats to you again.  WTG!

Thanks! I firmly believe that the key to breaking through a stall is PROTEIN. Up your protein and I guarantee you'll start losing again! 50 pounds in 3 months is awesome though! Remember how that would have seemed impossible just a few months ago??

Hi Chrissy...

Thank you for writing back.  You know, what you said is true.  Without surg I could never have lost this amt of weight .  I do remind myself of that often.

I do eat alot of Protein.....it must be my metabolism.  I do bike ride (stat) 3xa week.  I'll increase that along with the Protein.

I am 70 yo so  it is slower but at the same time, I don't want to sag.  Thx for opening my eyes.

Good Luck to you.   alese

Wow, looks like you and I are in the same boat. Same start weight, same sleeve surgery, both in July. I've lost about 45 lbs and have now stalled completely. The only thing that I definitely see happening is major hair loss! UGH We just have to remember that we're way better off than we were 4 months ago and keep plugging along. Good luck to you. Be proud, don't be sad :)

Hi LooLee...

Your Sweet, we also haven't posted anything on our profiles!  LOL  Mine out of ignorance of how to do it all.  I am waiting for my son on Tday and he can post photos or at least an avatar if it looks good!

I've been eating more Protein as per Chrissy's mention and now have lost 2 lbs....I hope it continues.  I do have a wishful goal wt posted but not certain if I can manage at my age.  Might be too much sagging and wrinkling.  Will see!  Going to leave the goal wt until I see how I feel at the mid-150's.  I am shorter now from 5'7" to 5'4.5" --osteoporosis, and 70 yrs young.

Now to your hair loss...I am so sorry to hear that....my NUT said it starts around the 4 mon.  My hair is thinning very badly in front.  Actually, thinned yrs ago....aging!  Fortunately, I have a super hairstylist who can really tease hair so I am able to pass.  I, also, use a product called "Toppik" that comes in powder form and she sprinkles in my hair to cover the scalp......and it works well.  However, if I do start losing alot of hair, then I have a wiglet to cover in the meantime and even a wig....

TTY Soon, alese
