What was YOUR Weight Loss in First Couple Months? Am I doing something wrong?

At my first week post op visit, I had lost 16lbs,  2 weeks later and I have only lost another 9lbs.   I know that 25lbs in 3 weeks is nothing to complain about but I guess I didn't expect it to drop off so much from the first week.  I am following all of my guidelines and I am starting to exercise now (walking and light stretching).

Is this normal or was your weight loss pretty consistant?

That is really good!  When I went in for my 4 week check up, the scale said I had only lost about 20#.  You're going to hear this a lot, but just stick to the plan and count everything you put in your mouth.  I used to hear people say "take advantage of the losing honeymoon because it gets harder"... it's true!  You are doing great though, and it is a great ride so enjoy it!!!!  If you are a stair step loser, don't fret, just stick to the plan and know that IT WILL COME OFF!!!  :-)

Overall, I'm ok with my loss so far, but I've personally strayed from tracking everyday and started to eyeball my food measurements and guess what- it slowed down.  When I start tracking, it picks back up (I'm a stair step loser).

You will do great, and just remember- when is the last time you lost 25# in 3 weeks?  Congrats!!!

Pretty standard for the first month. My monthly loss so far is in my ticker. You're doing great :)

Please try to keep from worrying about rate of weight loss. It is totally normal to lose more in the 1st week or 2 than at any other time. Some people are more consistent than others in their weight loss, but stair-step losing and stalls are very common topics here. Remember there is no prize for losing quickly. The prize is getting and staying healthy.

All the best, Katy

consult weight 241 (had not been accurately weighed for over 10 years, my medical records just said "wheelchair") high weight was probably closer to 260.

You are doing great. I am 4 weeks out also. I lost 20 lbs in the first 3 weeks. Then gained 3 lbs as part of the week 3 stall. I have been stalled since last Saturday.

I'd say you are doing great! I actually gained the week after surgery, then stalled for over a week. My first month's loss was not very impressive, but after that I settled into my own personal pattern of loss. Which tends to be a couple days of losing, a gain, a maintain, rinse, repeat. I don't lose as quickly as some, but I had surgery almost 5 months ago and I'm down about 61 since surgery.

I am a little more than 2 months out ( had serious complications) but I am down 47. Which kind of freaks me out, loosing too fast is not good. So slow and steady wins everytime

If you are logging and tracking your food... And staying on your plan... You are doing everything right. Just keep it up. All of the losses will add up. It is also not a good idea to compare your loss. You never know what weight someone started at. The more you have to lose...typically the bigger the losses are. I was also a stair step loser. Down 4lbs..up 2...down 1 all the way to goal. You will start to see your pattern the further out you get. BTW... I lost 200 lbs in a year and dont think I lost as much as you have so far! Keep it up!

I am losing steadily but it is so slow~~I stick to my plan in hopes of being at goal within a year. It is frustrating to be so slow~~especially when there are reports of rapid high lose. But I am keeping the faith. Good luck to you!

I am almost 9 weeks post-op. I haven't had a stall but I find that I just lose about 2 to 3 lbs. a week...which, I'm happy with and just want my skin to keep up with my weight loss as best as possible.  I just follow having no more than 2 oz. of protein and no more than 3 oz. altogether when I eat a meal and I eat 3 meals a day and two protein drinks...I stay below 700 calories in a day (typically around 600) and stay above 70 grams of protein with at least 64 oz. of fluids.  I do light exercise (typically cardio).  I'm bumping that up in a week to include alternating yoga and weight training and aquatics and hoping that I can keep the same amount of calories and still be doing as well with weight loss if not a tad better...I don't want to lose a whole bunch at one time because I am committed to this same plan for as long as forever if need be.  Everyone is so different but similar...just stay focused on what you are eating, how much, and chew chew chew...with plenty of fluid and you will be A++.
