I'm not sure what staples you're talking about. Mine are all inside and they are there forever. Do you have staples externally? All I had were dissolvable stitches and steri strips. I can't help you with thigh numbness either.

Don't know about the staples either....I had steri strips also.  Is the numbness in your inner thigh?  I went to Walmart and walked around when I was 5 days post op and experienced numbness in my right inner thigh.  It freaked me out and I went home and sat in the recliner with my feet up for the rest of the day.  That was the only experience I had with thigh numbness.  I think it happened because I was on my feet for about an hour in Walmart.  It should pass as your internal incision heals.

I also have no answers for the staples... I had internal stitches and steri strips like the previous commenter.

As for the numbness in the thigh, if its the outer thigh, I've dealt with the same thing. My Surgeon said it's because the nerve that runs through the outer thigh runs up through the groin and across the side of your stomach (close to incision sites). He said it's possible that it got bumped or pinched during surgery and the numbness should go away with time. I'm 7 weeks out and it's going away slowly but surely.

Best of luck to you. Sorry I don't have better answers!

What staples?

The staples in your stomach are permanent.  Did you not realize this?  They NEVER come out.  EVER.

No, guys, I have REAL metal staples right on top of my incisions! Lol. I did , however, have the other knids for my gallbladder surgery earlier this year.

The nerves being cut or disturbed across my stomach makes sense for the numbness. I'll be glad when it goes away.

Thanks, everyone

My bff had staples like you have.  I think she got them out 2 weeks post op.  Every doctor is different, so I would call and ask them just to be sure.  A lot of doctors prefer the steri strips and dissolveable stitches because its more comfy for patient and convenient for everybody.  Hope this helps
