NSV... I ran.

Today I hit the gym...now that I'm 6 weeks out I can do some real stuff again, and I decided to start gradually, on the treadmill. And I was walking and walking and swinging my arms and looking around, and then I noticed that my treadmill had some automatic jump-up-the-speed buttons so I decided to try them out. I hit the 4.0 button and kept up well - for my short legs this is a mega fast walk but I held my own. Then I intervalled down to 3.3 - 3.5 land. Did that up and down a few times and then I thought to myself, "Hmmmm I wonder what would happen if I hit the 6.0 button." I figured Jillian beats up people like me all the time on BL so why not give it a shot... so I did. And I could do it. I intervalled there for several minutes too... 1 minute at 6.0, 2-3 minutes at 3.3 or 3.5. And it felt good. I realized I was going faster during these intervals than the skinny guy to my right. And that also made me feel good.

Then I lifted some weights for a while - mostly biceps, triceps, shoulders and chest since my lower body was clearly engaged in the cardio. And then I sat down at the personal trainer desk and made an appointment for Thursday. New trainer, don't know what to expect, but I'm looking forward to meeting him and seeing what's what.

So that's my NSV for the day. I pushed myself harder than I thought I could go, and I didn't die. In fact, I felt pretty proud. Yay me!

YAY you for sure! I know that feeling well. I ran for the first time in years, just a couple of months ago and it felt so darn good.

Great NSV. Keep up the good work!

I am waiting until 6 weeks out as well to do real stuff too. :)  Glad I'm not the only one.  First stop:  the recumbent bike at the gym and the weights.

Congrats to you on the running!  Once I get about 60 more pounds off, I plan to start trying (ha!) to run as well.

Keep it up!
