I've been seeing a bunch of articles recently on the varying prices different hospitals are charging for the same procedure.  If you feel comfortable telling, how much did you pay here in the United States and at which hospital?  I am self-pay at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, NE and am paying $16,800.  I really wanted to go to Dr. Alceves in Mexicali and pay the $8,500 he charges, but my husband feels more comfortable doing it at home.

Lake Norman (North suburb of Charlotte, NC) I had my surgery and according to their website it is still the same cost ... $11,900.  They have a concierge package that for an additional $1,500 you and your husband can stay at the Hilton Garden a half mile from the hospital for 1 week.  Also they pick you up at the airport and bring you back.  Also you get free bottled water and crystal light at the hotel as well as a free breakfast each morning for your husband.  The rooms are huge ... with 2 queen beds or 1 king bed you could still fit in the empty space at least 2 more queens and have walking room as well.  The beds are high quality air mattresses that you can adjust the firmness.  Most comfortable post op.  The package also includes some entertainment things and such.  See below all about the things included.

Northeastern Ohio must be exceptionally expensive because when I researched - I found prices from $19,000 to $26, 000 (Cleveland Clinic).  I ended up in between  - paying $23,000.  I traveled 90 minutes - wasn't willing or able to travel any further so I paid the price.  I felt comfortable with the surgeon and his success rate and experience.  The hospital was wonderful - I stayed 3 nights - nurses were fabulous - overall - a great experience - so I think it was worth it. But I am sure there are many good programs for less  - just not in NE Ohio.

Colleen,Just wanted to let you know I am heading to Mexicali tomorrow with Dr.Aceves. I had done plenty of research before I had approached my hubby with the idea and he was dead set against it( as was my GP) . Neither wanted me to go to Mexico but I was bound and determined. I went to see my Endocronologist for diabetes and hubby came with. The Endo was so excited for me and was totally even for going to Mexico. He checked out dr.Aceves as well as the hospital. As he said medical tourism is huge now. And with that my hubby is on board and we head out tomorrow for surgery on Wednesday. If you have any questions or your hubby does you can PM me.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life and I am not going to waste it !!!  Tracy
