I have been having trouble getting below 230 I have been stuck bouncing around 230 and 232 for weeks now. Next week my husband and I are going to take our son to the beach and I really want to be below 230 because even though I try to make the most healthy choice in food eating out is never good on your body. I am wanting to do the 5 day pouch test but every time I go to start it the first day I feel like I am starving is that more or less normal? Or if anyone has any suggestions on how to drop a few pounds this week I would love to hear them.

Can you post how many calories, how much protein, carbs and water you are getting each day?  Also how far out are you?  It will make it easier for people to make suggestions.

I get between 60 and 70 grams of protein in a day about 40 carbs most of which come from fruits or veggies I usually get in about 60 oz of water a day most of the time I have to force it because I don't feel very thirsty and I am 9 months post op.

Did your nutritionist give you a protein intake goal?  IMVHO you should work to get more fluids in during the day, thirsty or not.  I was told -- and I've seen posted on OH many times as well -- that 64oz/day is the minimum one should be drinking.

My suggestion would be to eat more protein, closer to 100 grams and under 20 carbs while drinking like a fish and keeping calories as low as possible.  I would say somewhere in the 600 a day level.  This basically means eating nothing but lean protein and green veggies all week.

I am struggling a little right now just because I am not wanting to eat.  I am trying to throw in one or two protein shakes a day to get my protein intake up.  Maybe try and up your protein amount and see if that gets the scale moving in the right direction.  I know when I am at 80 grams, I do better than at 60 grams.

In addition to more fluids, I would also bump up your protein to at least 80. Are you exercising? If so, it may be time to increase the frequency and or intensity.

Thanks everyone I will try upping my water and protein. As far as exercise right now the only thing I am doing is walking as much as possible because of some medical problems.

At 230# you need 85 grams of protein per day when sedentary or moderately active. 60 grams is too low, and will have you feeling more tired than you need to. 60 ounces of fluids is also on the low side. As I tell myself every day,"just shut up and drink it." (Not meaning to be rude to you - it's exactly what I say to myself)

Instead of the 5-day pouch test, which is just a crash diet with a fancy title, really focus on keeping your calories under control, protein and water up and try for a bit more exercise if you can.

I'm not a fan of eating really low carb, but do really watch the quality of the foods you eat that have carbs. Stick with whole grains, low GI veg and fruit (berries, melon) and avoid recreational sugar like it's poison.

Also avoid pretty much anything that comes in a box. I call it "packet food" even though it generally has very little food value.

Thank you I will try getting in 85 grams of protein a day and hope it helps. I have noticed if I go below 40 carbs a day I feel like a zombie so I try to keep it at about 40 but I try to get it from fruits and veggies.
