Help! I started my pre-op diet today and I am a little confused about the amount of protien drinks i need to have. I know my drs. said I need to drink 3-5 protien drinks a day. OK . So I am using Syntrax packets and just realized I think I may be drinking to much today.I mixed a full pack with 14oz of almond milk for breakfast and added ice to get it really cold and drank the whole thing. So what I am asking is did I drink 4 servings. I just made the lemonade one the same way and it says 4 servings per packet so I drank only half. So I think that makes it 6 protien drinks? Any help would be great this is an exciting journey to start.

One protein drink is usually 8 oz liquid and one scoop protein powder. The nectars are different. Haven't used them so can't respond to that. Whey protein powder will be about 25 gms protein in one scoop serving and you mix with 8 oz soy, skim, almond milk or whatever you were instructed. Hope that helps.

Pure Protein shakes are great- 2 grams of carbs and 32 grams of protein.  You can buy them prepared ahead of time.

The directions should tell you how many servings the packet contains. Usually, protein is either one or two scoops per 8 oz of water. You don't count the ice needed to make it cold so just add that to your water intake.

It won't hurt to take in more protein in your pre-op diet, but it will get kind of expensive.

Syntrax often gives you the portion size in 1/4's  you did not consume too much.  The whole packet is something like 100 cal and 23ish protein.  You probably want to have at least 3 if not 4 of these a day.  The only change I might suggest is to only use 8 oz of almond milk or you could get very full on the almond milk and not get all your protein in.

On my syntrax tub,it says one serving is 1/4 th scoop or 7 grams of powder.  If the packets say 4 servings that is what is in there so you would need to use about 1/4 th of the packet with 2-4 ounces almond milk. 2-4 ounces is what is on my tub to mix with. if you drank the whole packet, then yes that was 4 of your 3-5 servings for the day.

Since the syntrax makes much smaller shakes, you might have to drink 6-10 shakes a day to get what you need or just double up as you did bu****ch the calories .

How long did your doctor require you to be on your pre-op diet? Is it 2 weeks prior to surgery?
