Tips while sick?

Anyone have any tips for when you are sick after VSG? A lot of the protein I eat is dairy based and that makes my sinus/cold problems a 100% worse. Do you just go back to protein shakes when you are sick? I have what is probably the beginning of a sinus infection. It's all in my head right now. I just worry about making my protein & fluid goals because I feel so terrible & my stomach/throat aren't cooperating. What are your go to foods, medicine, drinks. etc. when sick?

I just go to shakes. In my program they count both as liquids and protein, so I can hit both goals without consuming a ton. I also use liquid cold medications instead of pill form and vaporizer becomes my best friend.

I go to broth, soup, and protein shakes usually. Make sure to drink tons of liquids to thin out the mucous. As for meds I am cleared to take what ever I need to except nsaids. My surgeon never had the liquid med thing except for about 4 days after surgery. For myself I cannot take anything large so I choose non-time release so I can cut them.

Broth and more broth. The salt is wonderful on a sore throat and your number 1 thing to get in is fluids. Ginger tea is great for soothing an unhappy tummy and gives you more fluids.

For protein - my fall-back, feeling cruddy backup is unflavoured whey mixed into broth or other soup.
