I survived my surgery today and am at home relaxing now
Thanks for the nice messages from my friends. So relieved that it is over and I'm safe. In the recovery room, I had shoulder (gas) pain and pain with the ultra tight binder. The nurse gave me a shot for the pain, I feel asleep for an another hour, woke up feeling good. I got sent home shortly after, and the only bottle neck was with getting my prescription at Rite Aid.
When I spoke to my surgeon he said that I had a lot of scar tissue around my old band, so he had to remove it. He didn't go as far as saying erosion, but I believe he said it had slipped. I didn't have any symptoms. That issue is causing me to have pain in my back when I take a drink, particularly a cold drink. He said that would go away as I heal - hope so that's a downer. Otherwise I feel great.
Thanks to all of you at OH for the great info and open discussions.
Cold drinks suck for me too. It's a little better now, but still not as comfortable as the warm stuff. Warm broth goes down easiest for me. The gas pain was AWFUL, but the liquid Vicodin seems to help A LOT. Also, WALK, WALK, WALK.
Glad you're home safe!
