I knew I like you! I am a former nightly ice creamer myself. I loved my ice cream so much that I can't imagine that a protein ice cream is anywhere near as good, so I haven't tried to make it yet. If you make it, you've gotta let me know how it turns out.

Okay, Shelly has tons and tons of recipes for protein ice cream on her blog site:

theworldaccordingtoeggface.com

Some of them sound pretty good. Just not brave enough here to give it a whirl.

Hi Marie

I have an ice cream maker and prior to surgery, I used it often.  It's the Krups 1 and 1/2 quart automatic one.  I made ice cream, sherbet, sorbets -- they all turned out great.  I plan on using it once I'm at maintenance -- if I ever get there as it's a long way off and now I'm stuck in a stall.... eating only 500 cals a day, 80 grams of protein, plenty of water, and under 20 carbs for the last week and no loss...........but that's another matter.

I don['t have any protein ice cream recipes, but I know that there are many available on different websites.

There is something really homey and old-fashioned about making your own ice cream.  I highly recommend home made ice cream over the chemical loaded stuff we can buy in the freezer section of our grocery stores.  To me it was worth the $50 -- some are less expensive, some are more, so lots of options for all price points.

Ree,
Thanks for all of the great info.  I agree with you about the homemade ice cream--fresh, natural, no preservatives.  Heading to Amazon to check out the Krups!!

((hugs))

I own one.  I wouldn't recommend Ice Creal, Sorbet's. or Gelatos.  But Frozen yogurts made with Greek yogurt and sugar free syrups.

You just have to be carefu with the recipes - if you make them without adding a lot of fats or salt they freeze too quickly and ice cream machines with wimpy motors or plastic paddles may freeze up on you.

I'm curious about the almond milk too since that's what I use.  I asked eggface last nite and waiting for a reply.
