Got home on Tuesday and still feel lousy. Having a lot of trouble with the gas. I am sipping and doing some walking but still awful. Every time I sip it really hurts and then the gas is that much worse. I know that it will get better each day but just dealing with it right now is all I am thinking about. Have a lot of swelling, mostly water weight.

Hang in there!  It will get better!  I found that early on it was best for me to sip while I walked.  It helped the air get out of my tummy.  Plus the walking is the only way to get the CO2 out from surgery and it does takes it's time to do so.

I can relate, I had the same gas pains, and was carrying 20 lbs of water weight around post op.  Just keep drinking your fluids and walking as much as you can.  It will get better.  I am 19 days post op and I feel really good.  Keep your head up !

Sip, walk, rest, repeat!! I really turned the corner at day 5 and then things got a little better every day after that. Hang in there.

Gasx strips were my friend.  Day 3 was probably the worst for me and it just got better from there.

I totally second the gasx strips - they really do help some!

I had that same pain when sipping my first week post op. I have it only occasionally now (2.5wks out). It feels like someone is stabbing your diaphram, right? Or your trying to swallow rocks? It sucks big time. But that will go away when the swelling goes down. Between the swelling and the gas in your abdomen the pain has nowhere else to go. Gas-X was my best friend! I took it round the clock, as often as the box said I could. This too shall pass. Walking, tooting and burping are the only ways to get it out. Best wishes!

Have you tried a heating pad on your tummy?  Besides walking, that helped me out with the gas pain.

I'm 12 days post-op. It will get better every day! The first three days were the worst. Just hang in there! It will soon be a distant memory.

I know your struggle. It's like you are going through exactly what I did/am. I'm only 8 days out and still struggle a little. It seriously wasn't until day 5-6 before I really started feeling "normal" again. Everyone is saying the truth. It does get better, but we just have to take one day at a time.
