Hey everyone!... I am doing pretty well, one pound from Onederland!  Had my labs done last week and I am a low in some of them, can any one tell me what I need to do?  My next appt with the surgeon isnt until 4/27.

Zinc- mildy low..... whatever that means

albiumin-3.4

pre albiumin-1.6.... they said this is supposed to be 18-36, so this sounds very low to me???

vit A 30

everything else was good.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Nikki

Please check that pre-albumin number, as that is crazy low. Pre-albumin below 20 is typically considered low. Your albumin is borderline as well.

Pre-albumin and albumin are related to your protein levels. Sounds like you need significantly more protein in your diet, but if that pre-albumin is real you need to see a nutritionist or your bariatric surgeon pronto.

As for the rest, are you taking a bariatric vitamin?

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

Ahhh Sheet! lol.. Thanks for that tip on double checking Jazz... I called the dr back, must have heard them wrong the first time... the pre-albumin is 17... NOT 1.6... so just a little low.... I feel much better now!

I am using a gummy vitamin... I know they are not great, but Its very hard for me to stomach pills at all... especially LARGE pills.... I will check with my nutritionist and the surgeon when I see them in 2 weeks.

Gummies are not good! They are NOT a complete vitamin. try Flinestone Complete (must be the complete ones) or Centrum has a chewable also that is complete. The gummies don't have iron & many other very important vit & minerals we need.

I know the gummies are not great....I do take a seperate iron supplement, a b-complex w/b-12, also a seperate b-12 shot monthly.

I take one a day womens petites (you actually need to take two a day !) but they are smaller, easy to swallow. My doc has me taking two in the am, and one in the evening. (basically a vit and a half !) My labs have been pretty great !
