I NEED my water

I was told that I could not drink water with meals (only 30 minutes before and at least 30 minutes after).

The problem is that I NEED my water.

I have been measuring my food and am either eating until I am beginning to feel full or eating only what I have measured and I am always satisfied. FYI, I am measuring myself 2-3 oz of food.  If the food is more dense, I stick closer to 2 oz and if it is less, it is closer to 3 oz.

I take a few sips of water while I am eating, usually after a few bites/spoonfulls (I'm still using baby utensils).  I have swallowing issues due to extremely enlarged tonsils and I find the water helps clear my throat so that the food washes down.

How bad am I being?

That is totally acceptable. The reason we are told not to drink anything before or after meals is because it pushes the food through our system, causing us to not feel full. Imagine a clogged drain. You flu**** out with water to free it, right? Same with our sleeve. A few sips of liquid to help lubricate your food is not going to hurt you. Just don't make it a habit to actually be drinking during your meal.

That's why almost all of my meat has to have some kind of sauce with it - it's hard to eat dry meat and no water!

Good Morning Sara,

I feel the same way abou****er (& enlarged tonsils).. So how's it been going? I have been doing good. I have been just doing full liquids and pureed/strained soups. In addition to 2 double scooped protein drinks per day.

Yesterday I did have some S vanilla pudding that was pretty good. Can't wait until my weeks 3-4 to get in more regular food. my doctors has me on full liquid det for the 1st two weeks although I am ready for something with texture.

What has you diet been and what have you been doing?

Thanks for the feedback

Well, I have been on liquids as well, but I broke out some egg white salad (love me some Trader Joe's!) this morning as I am two weeks out tomorrow.

I am having pureed meat with broth/sauce (chicken and turkey only), jello, popsicles, pureed low fat soups, my protein drinks (working up on them), and water!

I also picked up a few other premade meals from TJs last night: Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Marsala with mushrooms.  I am dumping out the rice and potatoes that come with them and pureeing what is left.  Then I will divide them into my smaller containers or bags for later this week.

I am feeling so good that I also have started up my exercise on my elliptical. I cannot wait to heal a bit more to start using weights.
