vacation 3 months postop?
We plan our spring break vacation end of February every year, I will be 3 months postop, is that too soon to vacation? 5 hours in a car to the airport, then 3 hours on a plane, 1 week away from home in Florida :) Did anyone else vacation 3 months post op? Positive, negatives, how to survive the vacation? Thanks for any thoughts,
Brenda

I had surgery on 3/3 and went to Vegas in the beginning of July. I didn't have any issues. I did pack some beef jerky and peanuts for snacking emergencies and packed my powder protein shakes and a blender bottle so that I could still get in my protein while on vacation. It was actually very nice because we saved so much money on food because we could share plates! You shouldn't have any issues, just be prepared and make sure to bring a few things along. Have a great time!
You'll be fine! By the time you go, you will have your routine down and all will be well. Be sure to keep some snacks with you for the trip so you don't go too long without eating. Have fun!
Edit to add:
I had to make 2 unexpected trips up north when I was 3 weeks out, and again a few weeks later when my brother died. I had just gotten to the "real food" stage. I ate mostly deli meats but did try some of the other stuff my sister made. I just took little portions and was very careful eating. I also took a protein drink for each day. I didn't bring my food scale (didn't want to check my bag), so I was just extra careful in what I took. Most times I didn't finish what I took anyway.
You should have a good handle on things at 3 months out.

3 months is fine. I'm almost 3 months out and feel great. No pain at all and I'm eating normally. Just be sure to plan ahead for snacks/drinks etc. so you're always prepared and hydrated. But you shouldn't have any problems then!
