Steri Strips

I've seen several questions asked about this, but I've got kind of a weird one...

I had surgery 3 days ago. I took the dressings off last night (good thing, the adhesive was already starting to blister my skin, sigh). So far, I don't see any reactions to the steri strips.

One was a little loose, so I trimmed the edge. Two aren't even sticking to the wound though. They are just kind of looped up on there. The wound on both are about 1/4" long and look really good. I'm thinking of just taking those strips off as they aren't touching anything or doing anything. In fact, one end keeps coming dettached, so I'm thinking they just need to come off. (although i wonder what the heck so small went in that hole!!)

The bigger ones look fine, I'm not touching those! LOL.

My instructions were to not remove them before 2 weeks unless they fell off, just trim any lose pieces away. I ended up losing one in the shower at about 10 days and peeled the rest off at a couple weeks.. including peeling off one scab that wasn't ready! I think 3 days is way too soon to peel them off- remember, the scab can and do stick to the strips, and you can rip that off too if you pull them off..

Yeah, hubby looked and said to just keep putting the tape end back down. Shrug. It's not sticking to the wound at all, just around it. Weird. My appt with the surgeon is next Friday so I'll just deal until then. It's just weird. keeps coming loose and sticking to my shirt.

I'd trim the lose end, so it doesn't bother you or accidentally get ripped off.

Well, that's the problem...the loose end is like the whole strip. It's not touching the wound at all. One end is stuck down and the other end keeps coming loose. LOL. I don't want to stick it to the wound so I've been just leaving it alone, but it's bugging the heck out of me.

I guess if this is my biggest problem on day 3, I'm doing okay, eh? *laughing*

If it's not covering the wound, take it off- I thought the perimeter was stuck, but not directly on the wound.. yeah, that would be considered fallen off on it's own!
