Vacation after Gastric Bypass

First, you're going to want to focus on the non-food awesomeness of being on vacation!  Sunshine, blue waters, fun activities, spending time with someone you love (hopefully).  Second, we do not get a vacation from our WLS.  We eat right on vacation the same way we eat right at home, or at work, or at a restaurant or party.  Pre-planning helps.  Knowing your limitations (protein/fat/carb/calorie) also helps.  Buffets can be tricky.  I have a one-plate rule (but remember I am almost 8 years out).  1/4 plate is protein, 1/4 plate is starch, 1/2 plate is veggies.  I can't handle more than one plate at a time.  I can't handle bread or appetizers or dessert, so they are not in my plan.  Fuel your body, and listen to your pouch so that you don't end up in pain, sick, or dumping.

Blessings, Jill

Justype gave you excellent advice. 12 years out and never took a 'food' vacation. Enjoy your vacation.
