Exercise
I am so sorry. speak with your doctor but I wouldnt worry too much. Be careful on portions and make sure you are getting in lots of protien for healing. You will be amazed how many calories your body burns while healing. Just take it slow and be careful...better to be out for 2 months then for 6 because you pushed it too soon!

A middle aged over the hump and over what "I'm suppose to do" woman, with the wild spirit and a nasty case of depression and anxiety!
First, sorry to hear about your accident, I hope you have a speedy recovery.
Exercise is great for overall health, it will reduce your risk of many diseases, and in general make you a healthier person, but it is important to know that exercise has little to do with weight loss. Your nutrition has a more important role in weight loss. if you focus on your intake during your recovery, you will be just fine.

As long as you watch your food intake you will continue to lose weight. I am 27 months post op and had a foot surgery 6 months out and the other foot done six months later. I was non weight bearing for 7 weeks each time and lost weight with the first one. By the second surgery I was already below goal and my weight stayed the same. Exercise helps with overall health but intake is more important for weight loss. Be sure to get loads of protein to help with healing. I added protein drinks back in when I had my surgeries.
Sorry to hear about your accident. I am sure that at some point, when appropriate, you will be having extensive physical therapy and you will be working with a team that will design your program to get the maximum calorie burn for the type of movement you can have. Had a similar incident seven years ago at it was the last time I lost real weight without dieting.
