4 months out and stomach pain
I had an ulcer a month after surgery but they treated for two months and it healed. The last 3 nights I have lay suffering through the night with stomach pain. It wakes me up if I do manage to fall asleep. It feels like heartburn or an ulcer. The ulcer I did have did not hurt soi have nothing to compare to. If I drink water it still hurts. During the day it hurts but find myself eating small bites of food which seem to help it not hurt so much. This is not a good thing. I have never had issues with acid reflux. Any idea what this might be? Feels like a hot poker in my stomach
I called doctor and they put me back on Carafate. I took it this morning and I'm still in pain. Does it take awhile to work?
Like I said, my previous ulcer did not hurt.
She thought probably acid reflux or some irritation. But wouldn't the Carafate work on that immediately?
The pain is quite bad. Bad enough I want to take pain pills. Thoughts?

Keep taking the medication, but if the pain gets severe go to the ER for an endoscope. Ulcers CAN be serious....however you should see an improvement in about 48 hours after taking the medication I believe. Maybe other people with more experience can chime in but when in doubt...ER.
