rough start

Hi everyone.  I looked for a search button on this site and can't find it.  I'd really like to read about other people a few days out from RNY.  I feel pretty rough.  I had surgery Tuesday afternoon.  I can't stay awake for an hour at a time.  That's my biggest problem, so extremely tired.  Looking forward to feeling ok again.  Please tell me it will come.

The search function is hidden!  It's the little magnifying glass in the top right corner.

I don't know why they just don't add a white box next to the magnifying glass. So many people ask the question about how to search. I was one of them.

Yeah, a search box would make it so much easier!  But the more questions that are posted, the more ad revenue the site might get, so it might not be in their best interest to add an easy-to-find search!

Congratulations on your surgery! It will get SOOOO much better! The first 2 weeks are rough, your body just went through a HUGE surgery and it needs time to heal. You are going to be really tired and weak but when you are awake, walk walk walk walk and sip sip sip sip water, this will help you heal.

I am 3months out of RNY and I felt awful and miserable for the first 2 weeks but I can assure you, it will get better and you will have more energy and before you know it, you'll be walking around and struttin' your stuff!

Naps don't really fit how much I slept post-op...they were hours long.  It took between 4-6 weeks before some energy came back.  Then, watch out, at about 9-12 months out--- energy, energy, energy not wanting to sit still.  It felt like making up for lost time.  So here it is:  IT WILL COME.

I'll be 4 weeks on Monday. I am still not real energetic and still have discomfort. Some people just heal at different rates so you can't compare yourself to the "I felt better in a week" posters. The woman I worked with had RNY 6 years ago and she was back to a desk job in a week. Of course, she was also more than 10 years younger, than I am now, at that time.

I started back to work on Friday for a half day. I came home and slept - without moving for 2 hours. I was a bit stiff when I woke up. Hang in there and rest when you need it.

Thanks everyone for your responses.  It helps a lot to hear it will get better!  I do find that I'm slightly better each day.  I just keep telling myself it will be worth it in the long run.
