Blood Transfusion

If you are concerned about receiving blood from someone else, you may want to look into autologous or directed donation.

Personally, I'm fine with my transfusions from volunteers. I'm a healthcare professional and confident Red Cross does everything possible to offer a safe blood supply.

Somewhere out there, 6 strangers took time out of their busy lives to donate.  They'll never know me, nor I them, but I'm here with a second chance at living a good, full life because of them (and my WLS, of course)! :)

I have had two bags of blood when had a bowel obstruction BUT because I dropped the ball and didn't take my iron vitamins religiously. Needless to say I will NEVER do that again. No problems before or after this hospitalization. Blessed for sure!

Karma....What would life be without it?  250lbs gone! 410/160... Life's sweet!
