1) Exercise

2)  Lower your intake of white carbs (bread, rice, potatoes, ice cream, etc).

Eat a more balanced diet of lean meats and low glycemic veggies and fruits helped me control my numbers before WLS.  I had not been diagnosed with diabetes but was "right there" very soon.

I got my A1C down pre surgery from 8.7 to 7.1 in a month by cutting out all carbs, eating only protein and veggies, and also taking Onglyza, Victoza and Metformin. I had to drop mine in order to have the surgery before my insurance switched. Good luck!

Are you working with an endocrinologist? My thought is you would likely need meds to lower it that much in that much time given it is a 90 day test and that date is 30 days away.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

im working with my surgeon and my endocrinologist (I see him on the 10th) I started the low card high protien diet and its working i had blood sugars between 58 and 89. I have an insulin pump so I'm going to lower my basal rate so that I don't get a reading of 58 again.
