My surgeons dietician says start my vitamins on week4. This feels late mis there any reason why I couldn't start during week3? All are chewable so thought I could purée with my food.

I started my vitamins on Day 5 (I had open surgery so Days 1-4 were in the hospital).  I started calcium after my 2 week post-op appointment.

The day I got home from the hospital, so in the evening of Day 2. I have 0 clue why he wouldn't have you start on everything right off the bat, especially since they are chewable.

I started mine the day after my surgery.

The ASMBS says to start your multi and iron as soon as you are discharged from the hospital.  They say you can wait up to 30 days to start calcium citrate and up to three months to start B12.  Not that you must wait, but that you can if you want.

So no, I don't know of any reason not to start them in week three.  I think the multi and iron should have been started before then, as the ASMBS recommends.

Hi tdbull  Hope you are feeling better.  I took liquid vitamins as soon as I got home and did so for 2 weeks.  I got them at my surgeons office as well as buying a months worth of chewables.  Wishing you a speedy recovery from here on out !....

I was told to wait until week 6 and I did. Doc told me I had enough stores of vitamins in my system to last me awhile so week 6 would be a good start date for me.
