After WLS? I'm getting back into diving next week, but I was wondering if anyone knew if there were any special issues for us?

Never been scuba diving so can't speak to that, but I will say that cabin pressure on a plane made me throw up for years if I ate.  I still avoid airplane food and not just because it's crap!

I hope the diving goes well for you and I would suggest doing it on a well digested meal kiss

I am not sure but that is a great question! I am a diver also and never thought about it. I was bummed I could not help this past Saturday with the discover scuba class offered here to introduce people to scuba diving. I was only 9 days post op. I think I may email my Dr. If you find anything out let me know.

I would be careful lifting anything over 20 lbs. ur weights and tank are way past that..you could rip the stitches. I didn't dive until 3 months after surgery. Enjoy it its a wonderful sport.

There r no issues with diving. I have done about 50 dives since my wls. Just be careful of what you eat after you get out.. U know how hungry we all get after diving. I would say take protein bars and nuts with you. Have a great time.

No issues at all for me. I'm a DM with over 300 dives and at least half of those are post-op. I dropped to 205 feet just two weeks ago and had no issues. I do have to drink water slower the day before so I can get hydrated and avoid getting bent at really deep depths but that's the extent of accomadation for me.

Feels freaking AWESOME though to be able to put on a wetsuit that isn't massive, a BCD that needs to be smaller and flip over the side of a boat without feeling like a whale heading back to my natural habitat. Plus I use soooooo much less air now and can stay down a lot longer.

It burns a lot of calories so that pretty much rocks too! Happy diving! If you're ever in the South Florida area let me know if you'd like to dive.

Coolness! Thanks so much! My fiancée are trying to do a yearly Florida trip. He's never dived before so he's getting certified while we're in Hawaii.
