Pasta Anyone???
Hi Everyone!!!
Hope all are well. I am six months out and the Nut says I can have pasta. How much pasta can I have and should it be the brown pasta versus the white? Are there any particular brands that you would suggest or prefer over the others? And what kind of toppings can I have on this pasta? I have an appointment with my Nut but it won't be for some time now so, I'm depending on you guys to lead me down the path of righteousness until then.
Pasta is a hard food to eat early out. It gets stuck and you'll feel like you want to die cause it hangs in there so long. I do angel hair pasta when I do some - tablespoon of pasta and lots of meat and sauce. When I make spaghetti I sometimes forego the pata to get more meat in. when I make lasagna I use zucchini strips for the noodles. Easier to digest and much better for us. You'll only be able to do a spoonful or two of pasta this far out but it takes a lot of room in the pouch so you won't be able to get much protein in. Eat your protein first, then a taste of pasta. many skip pasta until they're a lot farther out as it's mostly carbs and it's suck a waste to eat that and take up room we could be using for protein in our pouches. Go slow and see how it works for you.

I think if you think of pasta as a side and NOT the basis of the meal (with a sauce on top) you may be able to enjoy it.
I find the thinner the consistency (angel hair) the better I manage, but even at nearly 9 years out, it is very hit and miss and may well induce me to vomit because it's just too heavy for my pouch!!! I NEVER eat pasta out, but that's just because I can't trust I'll do well with it and quite honestly, I'd rather just have the protein that goes with it!

I have completely switched to Dreamfields pasta. I'm not sure of the mechanics of it but it is very low on digestible carbs. The "protein pasta" has 10 grams of protein and regular pasta has 7 grams, so the difference isn't that much. I prefer to go with the low carbs (5g for Dreamfields and 30+g for regular pasta) with a little tomato sauce. Like Kim said though, just as a side, not as the basis of the meal.
