Egg powder
There's an item on my list of allowable foods that I hadn't been able to find until a couple days ago. Powdered egg whites. I decided to try some mixed into my cream of wheat. I love eggs and thought ths might give the cream of wheat an eggy flavor.
It didn't. I think the cream wheat was hot enough to "cook"? the powder into flavorless rubbery egg whites. It was really odd.
But after I ate, I kept burping egginess and generally felt disgusting.
Have you used egg powder? Results?
When I had my Nutrition Meeting the lady recommended Egg White Powder for getting in protein. I don't think I'd cook with it but there are lots of ways you can use it in Shakes to make your own Protein Shakes or add some to your own Protein shake mix to increase the Protein.
Here are some Recipes I found using Egg Powder for Shakes.
Please use even tbsp. measurements for all recipes.
MILK-TYPE PROTEIN SHAKES
Ryan's Mega-Chocolate Protein Shake
7 Tablespoons Dried Egg Whites (35 grams of protein!!!!)
2 cups non-fat milk (16 grams of protein)
1 1/2 tablespoons Hershey's non-fat Chocolate Syrup
5-10 medium ice cubes.
Blend until mixture is completely liquefied. If added flavor is needed, add 1/2 cup milk and chocolate syrup. The taste should be similar to a chocolate shake. This shake will give you about 100 grams of protein, and should be taken immediately after your workout to help recovery and maximize protein synthesis for muscle development.
