pre op protein shakes

So my dr is recommending I use bariatric advantage shakes. $70 every 2 weeks. Only diff I see is it has more vitamins in it then other protein shakes. WhT did ya'll use . Will it hinder me anyway if I use something cheaper? ? Thanks !!

They are more expensive and at first I used Bariatric Fusion (a competitor of Bariatric Advantage). Once I was a little further out, I've used other ones exclusively. It's hard to choke those old shakes down now that I'm back on regular food. LOL 

How long do you need to be on a liquid diet before surgery?

Your taste will probably change after your surgery.  I read that on here before my surgery and sure enough after surgery, the things I had chosen did not taste good at all.  Now that I am about 3 months out, I go back and try some of the ones I did not like at first and they are ok now.  

I just went to BJ's Bariatrics online and ordered some samples and also Nashua Nutrition has a lot of different samples.  For me the guidelines are that it must have at least 20 gms protein, sugar below 8gm, fat below 10 g and calories less than 200.  Pretty simple.  I look for ones that require only one scoop and not two to get the required protein.  I add non fat dry milk to my protein shakes to boost my protein intake. At first, I could not tolerate any of the whey powders but now I can if I add soy protein to it.  It is such a learning process.
