I am 7 weeks out from Roux-en-Y and I can't sleep! I wake up about 4 or 5 and can't get back to sleep ever. I go to bed around 10pm every night. Is this normal??

Before RNY was this a normal thing for you? Are you waking up because your hungry? I know if I dont have a snack before bed I will wake up around 4 with a killer headache. My husband is up for work at 415 so I get woken up by him every morning then go back to bed till 630.

It was normal for me after I started to feel better that I was wide awake. Now I'm pretty much back on track. I think as I've lost weight I don't sleep away as much time as I used to and have more energy.

I think you are right because I'm not tired; I feel really good; I think it's just one of the ways my body is improving. YAY!!

I haven't slept a full night since my surgery in October of 2010!  I believe it's a side affect that the medical community doesn't want to address.
