It will be one week tommorrow since my surgery. My weight that day was 233, the day I came home from the hospital it was 248, I know that it is normal to gain weight in the hospital, but today my weight is 246. I thought by now I would have lost more of the excess weight. Is this normal?
I have my one week post-op appointment tomorrow.

I don't have an answer but I am feeling the same thing. I had my surgery on the 9th and weight more
than I started at. It is a bit discouraging. But I think it is just part of the process.

It is normal, they pump you up with so many fluids.  It took me  over a week to get rid of the extra fluid.  Just be patient and walk as much as you can to get things moving..  Good luck with your appointment tomorrow.  I am sure they will reassure you then!

Stay off the scale. It takes awhile for your body to rid itself of the excess fluids from surgery. You are setting yourself up for frustration and disappointment. Work your plan, and you will lose weight and inches and fat.

It is completely normal. Your body is busy healing right now and trying to figure out what you have done to it. It takes a while to flush out all the fluids you were given in the hospital. Just keep working your doctors plan and I guarantee you will lose weight. And try not to weigh more than once a week--it will drive you crazy!!

I am still pre-op, but remember to get in as much fluids as you can.  It sounds counter-intuitive, but drinking more will help flush the extra fluids out.  Good luck!  You are going to do great!

Hiding the scale is the best thing you can do- at least for a few weeks. Remember you were on an IV for a couple of days and you just put your body through hell- for its greater good. I think when i was checking out of the hospital i was lime 22lbs more then when i went in. I was soooo angry i was tempted to stop at mcdonalds lol. Its going to take a little time for your body to fiqure out what your doing and start to heal. Most of the weight gain is fluids.

Relax, fluids, protein, walking- the most important things you can do at this point and you will notice the weight start to disappear BUT hang on tight, its a hell of a ride.

Good luck
