NSV - from no stairs to 5 miles
When I first met my boyfriend, I weighed about 280. It was about 2 months after my RNY. On our first "date" (we were only friends then but we didn't know what was in store for us LOL) we went hiking at Starved Rock (a natl park in downstate Illinois) and I could barely get up the stairs without breathing hard... stairs that the park had already helpfully put up on the more hilly parts for people like me.
This past weekend, we went to Wisconsin. We hiked 5+ miles on a trail rated "advanced" in the Kettle Moraine forest (Scuppernung green trail). Rocks, sand and hills. We even jogged up some of the inclines. Other than some sore calves, I was fine. He sweated more than I did, although he does anyway LOL.
I look back at then vs now, and I want to fall to my knees and cry. Not only for the transformation in ability, but for the fact that my dearest loved me big, and loves me small. I am astounded by my life right now.
