American Cheese

Ok. I know this sounds totally stupid, but how much do you think a slice of cheese weighs? I googled it and they were saying 1 oz. But that can't be, because there are usually more than 16 slices of cheese in a pound of deli cheese. Does anybody know this offhand??

if it's like pre packaged kraft american cheese - usually .5 ounces. if you are talking what is sliced at the deli, i don't know, as the thickness can vary.

if you are asking so you can trak calorie I always err on the side of caution and go with the higher value. For me it is better to overestimate something than underestimate it.

If it's a pound, can you divide it up into 16 stacks? They should roughly equal 1oz. each, right? I know it's probably a PITA, but it's probably more accurate.

@artox, I would, but I'm at work and don't have a scale, and it isn't my cheese. lol. I just had 2 slices of cheese and was wondering how much to count it as.
