BCBS- No NUT Visits anymore????

Ok, so I hear that the new BCBS requirements no longer include the 6 month nutrition as of Feb. 1, 2012. Anyone know much about this? Is it specific states?

If this is true, I am sooooo happy!!!

It probably varies; not all BCBS plans are the same. I have a copy of the various changes in our plan for 2012 and there is no change to the WLS coverage or requirements.

Edited to add that this is for BCBS of Illinois... Even the pending policy changes for 2/1/12 for ALL plans for BBS-Illinois still have the nutritional component of the 6 month diet. You should be able to go online for whichever BCBS plan you have and look at the policies.

I have BCBS I didnt have to do a 6 month diet. But did have to have to do 3 nut visit over 3 months before I could see the surgeon.

I read my post made a error. It was 3 nut vistis over 3 months before they could get approval for surgery.. not see the surgeon.

i think it will vary by state and even by plan. I have BCBS and didn't need a 6 month supervised program.
