My Vitamin D level has only gone up 15 points in 2 months????

Just wondering if this is "normal".......  I've been supplementing my Vitamin D with VItalady D3 50,000 units per day for 2 months now, and my level has only gone up 15 points (from 30 to 45).  Is this slow or is this a "normal" rate of increase?

I had D issues post op. Initial labs were an 8. Script D did virtually nothing, went from 8 to a 14. Tried liquid vitamins with 600 IU in them, and in 5-6 weeks, D labs showed aq 33.  I began taking the 50K IU dry D3 from Vitalady. After taking them 4 per week for 2 1/2 years, my labs were up to a 65.  Desired target range from several studies indicate 80-90 is the desired levels. I've been taking one of the 50K IU daily for almost one year now. New labs are due in about 3 weeks. Hopefully I've finally reached a 80+ level.  You might write to Vitalady to ask for sure, but my guess your body needs a little more time to build up higher numbers.  I know some post ops that claim they attain 80+ numbers on 10K IU 4 times a week.  After wt loss surgery, the is no "normal" to each pateint.  Dave

Michelle, 15 points in 2 months, IMO, is OK.  It does take some time getting the D back up for many of us.  You might consider adding a 3rd one to your day and see how that works.  You can email Michelle if you have any questions.  I know many DSers that take 4-5 50000 IU per day.

Well, it seems slower than many people, but I am like that with D too.  It took almost six months of daily 50,000 IU to get mine up to a decent level.  It seems like we are all different with vitamins, really.  I have to have a ton of D3 to keep my level good but very little iron.  I know others than take tons of iron and still have barely normal levels.  That's why it's so important to get labs and pay attention to the numbers yourself.
