Afternoon Ladies!

I called the doctor's office and got my results

Levels on 5-13 were 5450
Levels on 5-15 were 7659

I did not have a space of 48 hours so the doctor seemed pleased with the numbers but my Progesterone is low 12.7 so I am going to have to use suppositories. has anyone else ever used these? The nurse said the normal is 9-47 Any input is much appreciated. Do you think my HCG is high enough?

Kinda worried,
Flora

Flora,

My doctor says they like to see progesterone around 20.  I have a friend whose doctor is happy with hers at 14.  I think it depends on the doctor.  I am currently on suppositories and took them with my son, as well.  They aren't bad... just a little messy and kinda expensive.  If I pay for mine out of pocket (without insurance) they are $20 cheaper... just FYI.  Good Luck, fellow Alabama-ian!!!

Thanks! I have to go to a compounding pharmacy so I am sure it is going to be expensive...whatever it takes for a healthy baby That is what we will do! Thanks again for your input!

Do they cause sickness?

Compounding pharmacy doesn't necessarily mean expensive, hon! I think our progesterone/estrogen suppositories ran about $75 for 100? I think.

They didn't make me sick at all.

Are they going to have you do another test in a few days? Those numbers are so random that it's really hard to tell unless you're getting tested and the numbers continue to rise.  I think they went up so that is definitely a positive sign.

As for the suppositories, I used them for both my full-term pregnancies and they worked.  They are messy (oily) but if it keeps that baby in there, then it's the greatest thing in the world.

Take care and sending you (((((big hugs))))).

Thanks Kelly, I am going back on the 28th so I am sure she will do more bloodwork then to check it...she knew the window wouldn't be 48 hrs but she was pleased with the number going up...She seems to be very thorough so I am trusting her.

I guess the Prog. Supp. are more common than I realized...Thanks!!

They don't cause any type of sickness.  Just a greasy/oily feeling down there.  I had to do them 3 times a day and had to lay down for 15 minutes or so after they were inserted.  It was interesting having to do it at work but doable.

How long did you have to do it and how did you do it at work?

Lisa, *****ally doesnt know anything about this,,,   lol.. i dont remember them checking my progesterone or giving me hcg numbers... maybe they only tell you if there's an issue? or maybe becuase it was nearly 10 years ago? or maybe my office sucked? ;)

I had to use them through the first trimester.  I would put them in at the restroom and I would lay down on a couch in the break room for 15 minutes with everyone coming in for lunch. (worked at a school)

I used progesterone suppositories with this pregnancy following 2 miscarriages and I am 30 weeks and all is well. They are a little messy but SO worth it! I don't know how far along you are but my HCG was around 7000 when I was about 5 wks and they said it was good.
