OMG I'm gonna be sick. Something big came out my drain

Sorry for posting so much in 1 day but I feel like I'm going to vomit. I was sitting here and this HUGE chunk of whitish looking flesh lace came down my tube into my drain bulb. It was at least 4" long and I thought it was gonna completely plug it up it was so smushed in. I know small clots and bits of stuff are normal and it builds up once it gets in the drain bulb but this completely freaked me out and I'm feeling lightheaded just thinking about it. I haven't had the stomach to empty my drain because I'll have to look at it.

Please tell me this is normal, I know in my logical brain that it probably is but I'm having a very visceral reaction to the sight of it.

That's funny.. Yes it is normal. I only have 1 drain left as they pulled the other 6 out 8 days post op but I too had long and think chicken fat looking stuff come out. Heck my current drain has something fleshy that every time I go to drain it I swish the stuff aroung hoping it will fall off the side. No luck though.

Luckily none of this smells. But you should have seen my husband packing the hole in my back, gloves, gown, mask he's being a trooper but very freaked out!

I repeatedly had the wormy long things that would start at the insertion site of the drain and go 8-10" into the drain that I'd have to milk out and they'd drop into the bulb and looked almost like that magic sand stuff. Gross. Have someone else empty it for you. You've been through enough.

I gotta tell you, I'm watching the movie Soul Surfer. It really makes you think about how much we have that we take for granted. As much as the recovery from these surgeries have sucked large, I was just now still able to be up doing American Idol for the Wii and dancing with my girls. There is a part where they visit ****et, Thailand after the tsunami--sitting here crying in my wine. We are very blessed.

Won't be long now before stuff feels normal again...at least that's what I keep telling myself!! :)

Feel better honey.

Thank you guys. Yes, I know, it's good to remind yourself how lucky you are to be sitting here dealing with these 'first-world problems'. I've got a roof over my head and plenty of food, a lot better than many people. But yeah stil gonna ask my mom to empty my drain. I think it's time for a valium.

Oh Jeeez, more fun stuff to look forward to next month.  Darlin, take two valiums and we'll be right over with the dancing guys to amuse you in your drugged stupor.

Yep, normal. I had that a bunch of times especially w/ the drain I had for 6 weeks. The nurse told me it's part of the inside of the drain coming thru and not to worry about it.
