Post-op day 3

Wow! Feeling so much better compared to be first two days.

I was discharged yesterday so being at home was so much nicer than being in hospital.

I am on the full-fluid phase now. So weird not being hungry. I have zero interest in food, which is weird because a few days before (while on opti) it was literally the only thing I could think about.

Most of my pain is at the site of where my lap band port was, which I was told to expect.

My little one (she's 2) is happy to have my home, but sad that she can't stay home with me during the day. I feel terrible sending her to daycare (mom guilt) but I know I need to rest and take care of myself too.

I wasn't weighed at the hospital but according to my scale the day before, I had lost 9lbs on Opti. When did everyone start weighing themselves after surgery?

Congrats! I couldn't believe I wasn't hungry or interested in food either right after surgery. It was insane. I had to force myself to eat otherwise I probably wouldn't have. I can feel hunger now but it's not the same as it was before and I feel so full so quickly. However, I think I'm weird because I'm only 4 months out and other say they can't feel those for up to a year.

I started weighing myself the day I got home but I'm a slave to the scale even though I know I shouldn't be. I tend to do it every morning.

I'm terms of hunger everyone is totally different. I woke up hungry the day after surgery and have fought that ever since. My dietitian said to look at it as a good thing because I would have a headstart dealing with hunger as opposed to people later in the process who will have to shift their approach because they aren't used to feeling hungry at that point. At first the hunger bummed me out, but I got over it. Now I wish I had the energy bump that a lot of people talk about!! :)

Congrats; so glad you're feeling better!

I officially weigh myself once a week, using my surgery day (Wednesday) as the weekly weigh in, but often hop on daily to see how it's going.

Glad to hear you are feeling better and your home. It was so nice to get out of the hospital and have a shower lol and good sleep!

Yes, you do need to take care of yourself, I'm not a Mom, but I can only imagine the mom gullt (I get auntie guilt sometimes, I know not the same). You do need to recoup and recover so you have no set backs, and your daughter will be all the better for having a healthier Mom. Plus a lot of kids like daycare, playing with other kids, I'm sure shes having fun at daycare, don't be too hard on yourself.

I didn't weigh myself for a week. I've heard of others weighing themselves shortly after getting home and seeing a gain (due to the IV fluids), and I didn't want to see any gain! However after that, been guilty of weighing myself often daily, even though I know I should just keep it to a week, but I like to know did I lose a few ounces or a pound today lol

Hope your recovery goes well, and you continue to feel better!

Best wishes.

Amanda

Glad to hear you are out and feeling great!! I have noticed day 3 seems to be the turning point for many! I am still pre-op so I am not sure, but I am betting I will weigh every morning. I never weigh any other time because I find I am up later in the day.
