For any of you who had their surgery at TWH, what are the patient rooms like? Are there private/semi-private/ward rooms? If there are private rooms, but your insurance covers semi-private, can you pay the difference and have a private room?

My insurance covers semi private. I was put in private my guess is they only had semi & private. Regardless yes you can "upgrade" and pay the difference. It all gets discussed at your pre op

I don't have insurance, so I was all set for a ward room, but there were none when my surgery finished so they put me in a semi-private.

I had my pre-admission about 2 weeks ago at TWH. Yes, you can pay the difference. I believe the total cost for a semi is $250 and a private is $295 per night. That was a relief because although it's not cheap, I was afraid it would be 10x that price. In the US they charge $500 for a box of tissue in the hospital room.

Hi, I had my surgery 2 weeks ago at TWH, I was forturnate that my insurance and my husbands insurance covered the extra for a Private Room so I requested it at my Pre-Op appt. The room was great. I was able to fully relax & rest, and the nurses on 9B were fabulous. The only strange thing was that my room overlooked McDonalds. I thought is was funny as I sat sipping my tiny tiny cups of water while watching the endless stream of cars going through the drive-through. LOL.
