Not What You Want To Hear - the Bariatric No's

I came across this on FB this morning.  I thought it was a really good read regardless of where you're at the in the process.

I was just mentioning to another WLW (Weight Loss Warrior) about what the surgeon said to me last month.  The first 18 months are the reset button.  Our bodies drop the excess weight and at about 18 months, the body starts to adjust.  It is up to us to put into practice all the good habits we had 18 months to learn.  The good eating, the right choices, the exercise.  If we haven't made those changes, and were "cheating" all the way along even after surgery, then we start to put the weight back on.  This made total sense to me.

Anyway - have a fantastic day.

Definitely not a fan of the author, but definitely AM a fan of the message - spot on.

My thoughts too.  The message is the important part.  The author seems to have some notoriety I take it.  Interesting.  lol.  Might have to do some google snooping.

Yeah, she's really quite something, "bless her heart".

SML gives great advice but does not seem to follow it. Unless I am mistaken, she has had a huge regain and never posts pictures of herself anymore. I guess it's hard to sell books claiming to be a WLS expert if you have gained much of the weight back. Years ago her company failed to fill orders people made. I'm not sure they ever got their products or money back. So be wary...

Love the message. When people post that they are eating crap the first year and it is not effecting their weight I want to hear from them year two when they are still not following plan. It definitely gets harder but so worth it
