Optifast First Day & Yummy Recipe!

Yeah! I started Optifast today so it's now 2 weeks to surgery.  The Optifast is just something that has to be done to get to the next goal.

The really neat part is discovering that vanilla Optifast and tangerine/grapefruit crystal light tastes like a Creamsicle!  I loved Creamsicles growing up.  I haven't had one in forever but this brought my little taste buds alive.

For breakfast I had vanilla with a teaspoon of decaf coffee.  It was good but I'll probably make it a little stronger tomorrow.

So I'm off to a good start and I hope I can keep it up!

I agree! I love the vanilla optifast with crystal light. I'm disappointed that I ordered three boxes of chocolate and only one vanilla, because I find that the vanilla with crystal light is far better than the chocolate.

Also, I've found that with the chocolate, adding less water and making it pudding seems to get rid of the play dough taste. This trick has helped get me through holiday meals, especially since it make me feel like I'm actually eating something.

Good luck!

Thanks!  I ordered two vanilla and two chocolate and I was thinking the same thing.  But maybe there's a yummy chocolate recipe in our futures.  I'll have to try that pudding trick.  That sounds pretty neat.

You did great to get through the holidays!

Try some decaf instant coffee in the chocolate optifast with ice...it tastes like an iced mocha. (I did 12 weeks of Opti program twice...loved this combination to start the day)

I tried it.  It was delicious!  Thank you for sharing lammytee14!

Wow. 12 weeks of Optifast twice.  I'm speechless.  These first two days have not been a bed of roses. I can't even imagine 4 weeks.

I should try the crystal light trick.  I had bought a bunch of Torani sugar-free syrups to add to the vanilla (all I received was vanilla) and unfortunately I found that the syrups made it too sweet (even the chocolate one).  Now I understand why most "recipes" suggest using extracts, because they don't add further sweetness.

I've gotten through this by mixing my opti with caf and decaf coffee.  It's been drab but bearable.  6 more days to go...

I could see where more sweetness could be hard to take.  One thing I liked about the decaf coffee with just a bit of maple extract was that it cut down the sweetness.  Plus it was almost like my morning cup of Joe.

Hey you're almost there!  Just 6 more days!  Yeah you!

Congrats on the optifast start... i love the vanilla with a bit of rum extract and some pumpkin seasoning at Bulk Barn. I was blessed that they had some leftover from the fall as they only carry it during the fall months... It s well worth trying... not sure who deserves the credit from this recipe but it's not me.

Day 14 is just around the corner!!!!

That does sound good.  I've got pumpkin spice. So I'll have to see about finding some rum extract.

I sure hope time flies!

Thanks for the tip Millie!
