Still Waiting in Ottawa
I thought I would have my surgery date by now but I am still waiting for the phone call. Has anyone got the surgery booking call since April 1st for Ottawa? I hate to call and bug them.

I'm in Toronto, but I can tell you that from what I've been reading here, it PAYS to call and "bug them". Just think - you calling could potentially mean good news! :)

It took a good month from the time I met the surgeon Dr. Mamazza until they called me back with a surgery date...I met him on 2/26/13 and only got a call end of March..had my surgery 4/22/13....But it doesn't hurt to call...you never know... :)

I'm still waiting, too. [sigh] I met Dr. Mamazza on April 16.
Before that appointment, I had no problem calling the clinic and asking questions and no one was anything other than pleasant to me. But now, with this being The Call, I am a wee bit hesitant to call lest I annoy Lana. I can imagine she takes about 20 calls a day from people like me, so anxious and excited. I certainly would not like to annoy her and have my file mysteriously end up at the bottom of the pile. But a rough idea would be terrific. Like, we make calls on Thursdays, or the first week of every month, or we schedule people whose BMI is x first... ANYTHING to keep from having the same thoughts replay in my brain over and over and over again.
When I picked up my OptiFast I asked the ladies at the front desk if they had any idea when I might expect the call (not the date; the call). They were really quick to tell me they had no idea and that the call would come when it comes. I really got the sense they were sick of being asked. And not that I blame them. It's tiring being asked the same thing repeatedly. But this wait is so difficult!
No news yet. I met Dr. Mamazza on April 4 and have been waiting for a call since then. I did call Lana twice and was told that if she had a date for me she would have called already. I find that surprising because whenever I called her before it seemed to speed up the process. I feel like if I call her a third time, she will get really annoyed with me :(
I'm not sure if something is going on in Ottawa (i.e. maybe down one surgeon?) However, went I went to the surgery education class in March, the nurse said it was the biggest class he had ever seen. I'm assuming most of the people who were in that room are not on this site.
I am trying so hard to be patient. It's hard when you're this close. I was anticipating surgery one month from the surgeon appointment, which seems to be the average from what I have observed on this site.

I feel for you... it took me 2 years to get to the point of surgery.
They forgot about me...the Gastro Doctor never got back to them with his treatment results...he told me I was a go for surgery. Then Nov.,Dec, 2012 pass Jan 2013...I called for Lana...and I got a nasty receptionist...so I waited 2 more weeks and I called again getting another receptionist who was nice she passed me through to Lana...and Turns out...my chart had been sitting on her desk all that time. So I got pushed fast after that...consult in MARCH 2013 then 2 1/2 pre op session....Surgery Date was April 12th...and it wasn't the one they were preparing for me..RNY then. on OR DAY they Changed it to a Sleeve operation.
Having said that... get in touch with LANA directly ask for her extension....getting past that one receptionist...is tough. I waited like my friend said...so sometimes due to all the people having surgery and followup they are run off their feet.
I wish you all the best....once I saw Dr. Mamazza... it was about 30 days for my surgery date.
