Feeling like an athlete

I am four months post-op and am down 56 pounds.  Even though I was a lightweight going into the surgery, I had significant problems with pre-op exercise due to pain and fatigue.  I have been easing into exercising and find that I am really on a roll now and don't want to stop.  I used to run, but haven't done so in a few years.  I had stopped running due to injury so I am leery about running again.  I have decided to do some triathlons (try a tri actually) this summer that way my training won't be so hard on my joints.  I need to have a goal other than just to lose weight and feel better to keep me motivated ... go figure.  I joined curves about a month ago in order to strengthen my muscles that have not been used a lot in the past few years, and am really enjoying that.  I have been lane swimming for about a month also and that is nice because it helps with the cardio and is easy on the body, definitely no joint pain after swimming.  My friend is going to lend me a road bike because I only have a heavy old mountain bike.

Last night I decided to go for a 2.5 km walk before bed in the hopes that it would help me sleep.  My 16 year old daughter (my biggest cheerleader) came with me for the company.  She took a picture of me before we went for the walk because she thinks I am looking very good.  I posted it, but I don't know how to add it to my message.  Once I started walking at a fast pace I decided to jog from one lamp post to the next and then walk to the next one and so on.  Well, once I started jogging I didn't stop, I ran over 2 km.  I almost cried I was so excited that I could run.  Today I went to Curves on my lunch hour so that my muscles aren't too sore tomorrow (as they always are two days after doing something strenuous like running).  Tonight I am going lane swimming and I can't wait to see what's in store for tomorrow.  I know I shouldn't do things too fast, but I am so excited about this new part of my journey.  I will try to pace myself so I don't burn out or injure myself.

I LOVE MY RNY!!!!!

It's such a great feeling, isn't it?  I have started running too and am LOVING it - I have never run anywhere before in my life!  It's amazing what our post-op bodies are capable of.

Congrats on your great Non-Scale Victories!
