PATT's done today....& I'm on my way....
...to a better life! All cleared & ready to go for a VSG on Jan 14th....they reserved a bed in the step down unit for recovery, due to sleep apnea that was just diagnosed this past fall & because of the anti inflammatory meds can conflict with the anesthesia. First I met with the surgeon, Dr. Lloyd Smith (2nd time), then over to the pre op clinic (St Joe's TO), where I met with the pharmacist, nurse - ECG, anesthesiologist, RN, internist who ordered blood & cervical xrays (due to rheumatoid arthritis - they want to make sure my neck is flexible for the tubes), so off to DI for those. this all took about 4 hrs & they were very organized, supportive & nice. I was surprised that it was a pleasant experience. Start OPTI in 2 weeks...
