Speechless.  Have you guys seen this?  How desperate have we become?

Fecal transplants have been used for a few years now to treat imbalances in the gut microbiome, which recent studies have also linked to obesity. It's a bit misleading (or at least premature) to say "poop pills make you thin," but there's actually some solid evidence now that there's some sort of relationship here, and this is the next logical step in the research.

I'm not in the medical field but I have heard of fecal transplants in the past.  I believe one case was a woman who was ill and they transplanted some of her husbands fecal matter to help with her gut bacteria.  I know that some people think that WLS is an extreme measure, but I think that ingesting someone's poop is even more extreme, lol.

Started reading the article. It made me throw up in my mouth. So maybe just reading this will make me not want to eat.

It'll be interesting if/when they start advertising this stuff on TV.

I've heard about this therapy for other gut-related things. I kind of wish my husband would give it a try for his milk issues, but he's completely grossed out by the concept.

Me too Jen.  A friend of mine had a fecal transplant for C-diff.  Hers wasn't done via pill though -

Obviously if there is a valid medical reason for needing this it would be one thing.  But taking them in the hopes of losing weight?  I was desperate pre-op, but I don't know if I was that desperate.

It's being used to treat C-Difficile infections and the results have been quite promising. I would go through my surgery a hundred times over before I ingested someones poop. Even funnier is the links that tell you what qualifies your poop to be used. Plus you can make up to $13,000 a year donating your ca-ca. Gotta live near Boston too...I'm a little far north to do that commute. LOL
