Need Suggestions, Feel Hungry Often and gaining weight since I had my baby

I am a little over 2 years post op.  I have a 6mth old baby.  I was doing great on my diet prior to getting pregnant, not eating any carbs.  When I was pregnant the doctor told me to add some carbs (I forgot how good they were) I only gained 21 lbs while pregnant, 2 weeks after I had her I was back down to my regular weight.  Now I have gained 23 lbs.  I feel hungry all the time and I know my portions are bigger.  How do I get back on track without being hungry all of the time.  I know a lot of my hunger is boredom, I need to get active, but I have a bone disease and having issues right now and cant really be active.  Please help.  I need it.

Hi Jenysez1,

Congratulations on your new baby, how exciting!  May we suggest you post this on your surgery type forum. We also have a great group here called Back On Track Together!  And our Pregnancy after Weight Loss Surgery too

Hi there!

I have faith in you to be able to get back on track.  There are many things you can do to keep you from being bored.  Pick up a hobby, volunteer, join a meetup and meet new people.  As for eating, you need some carbs.  The body needs them.  Healthy carbs are important to keep your organs functioning properly.  You may want to revisit a nutritionist to help you get back on track.  Congrats on the new little muncher!

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Thanks for the congrats, we tried for 12 years, fertility doctors and all and the gastric bypass/ losing 170 lbs made our baby possible.  I have been trying to only do occasional brown rice and wheat sandwich rounds.  You are right I do need a hobby, It has been hard to find something with the baby and health issues.  I am going through physical therapy and a new drug treatment so hoping that all get in control soon.  The last medicine they had me on, I gained 12 lbs in 4 weeks and then the doctor told me weight gain is a side effect, needless to say it wasnt working so I stopped it.  I did email my dietician, hopefully she can offer some good advice or get me in for an appointment.

You know you're going to have to give up the carbs. When you're hungry, eat protein instead.

Thanks, that is what I have been doing for 2 weeks, eating nuts, cheese, extra protein shakes. (about to make some protein popsicles too) and trying to drink more water.  I guess I just expected to lose at least a pound in 2 weeks...but nothing....I didnt gain anymore but nothing lost.  I was on a medicine that wasnt doing what it was suppose to do but did help me gain 12 lbs in 4 weeks....I quit taking them, once the doctor told me that is probably where the extra weight came from.

Is your ticker wrong? You said you lost 170 lbs. 23 lbs regain is something you can stop and hopefully get some back off. Sounds like those meds might have made you gain some weight. Also having a little baby it's hard to make time for yourself and it's not easy having a lack of sleep. I remember those days :-). Lack of sleep makes you HONGRY :-). Just try to be careful on your carb consumption and eat more protein. Try to practice the good old "protein first" rule at meal times too. We get a little lax about that the further out we get. Congratulations on your NEW BABY! That is a miracle and congratulations to you.

I need to fix my ticker, I havent been on here in a LONG time.  She is a miracle.  I tried 12 years with no luck even seeing specialist.  I had weight loss surgery lost all that weight and surprise I was pregnant.  I owe it all to my gastric bypass.  For the pass 2 weeks I have been watching carbs and eating more protein....havent gained any but havent lost any either....I hope I can get some off.
