Noise in both ears...grrrrr

I have noise in both ears that is getting on my nerves...The right ear sounds like someone is saying *chhhh chhhh chhhh* over and over...The left ear sounds like it has wind in it, but doesn't do it all the time like my right ear does...On my right side of my neck, where you push in to take your pulse, will stop the noise if I hold my fingers there and push in...But who wants to hold their neck all day long...The specialist took a hearing test, and said that everything looks fine, no hearing loss...Said that I am hearing my heart beat, and to get rid of stress and it should go away...he has no clue about the wind sound in my left ear...Recently before seeing him, I had ultra sounds done on my neck to make sure I didn't have any blockages, which game back clear...Does anyone else have this problem?  Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated...I was told to have hearing aides put in, and that the aides would pick up sounds around me, then I wouldn't hear those other noises...Specialist said that he couldn't give me aides just to see if they worked because I don't have any hearing loss...I have to hold my finger in my left ear at night to stop the wind sound, just to sleep...Geeze, I sure do look stupid with a finger in my ear...I have a fan on, tv, and the sound doesn't block it enough to sleep...Stupid ears, am tired of it...Sorry for ranting,  thanks for listening...Would appreciate any help you might have, thanks!!!!

P.S.  I am on blood pressure medicine, but my blood pressure is fine...so that can't be the problem, doc said.

I am sorry I dont know the cause of your ear noise but I can tell you I feel your pain. I have a noise in my left ear that sounds like a man starting a motorcycle (ha ha). It does cause some hearing loss for me but they can not fix it. I have had tubes in my ears 5x and the scar tissue is the reason. It is so annoying the quieter it is around me the worse the noise is. Sleeping has always been difficult. I sleep better with a TV on so the back round noise drownds out the ear noise. I also (since WLS) sleep with a hoodie on with the hood up, which helps the noise and keeps me warm :) You could try a noise maching that does the sound of the ocean or something.

Good luck

Sorry to hear that you have trouble too...I might have to check into the ocean thing...Maybe that will give me a reason to move to a nearby beach...LOL

Thanks for caring...Tammy

Never heard of that except when a patient had VERY high blood pressure. Odd. Hope you get it figured out.

Any other symptoms? Headache? Might be good to have it checked out by a neurologist to be sure it is not anything to really be concerned about.

I know exactly what you're going through on the right side, but the left is a new one on me.

My right ear has the same chhh chhh chhh sound and even when my BP is under control, I can hear it, but sometimes, it goes away entirely without warning.  But I know it is directly correlated to my BP, even when it's in "normal" range.

When I was in the hospital for WLS, my BP got up to 161/111 and the sound was driving me BANANAS!  I've got my BP back down into normal range and it's stopped again.

I know if I would turn my head a certain way it would stop the sound, but like you said, it's not something that can be done all day because it wasn't a normal position to hold my head.

I was actually excited to read that someone else had experienced this because when I explain it to someone else, they have no idea what I'm talking about!  So glad to know I'm not alone!

I wish I had a solution for you. Good luck!

Sorry to hear that you are going through this too...If I push in on my neck the chhh  sound stops, its weird...but the left side wont stop like that...If I put my finger in my ear that helps to drown it out...I am thinking about doing what someone else posted and see if my doctor will send me to a neurologist...Cant hurt to have things checked out...Thanks for caring...Tammy

a friend of mine had the same type of sound you have in your right ear and it was an aneurism....best to investigate further.
