HELLO, I JUST GOT MY SURGERY DATE FOR 9/26. MY QUESTION IS, I TAKE B.C. PILLS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD I NEED TO STOP THEM 2 WEEKS BEFORE SURGERY AND CANNOT TAKE THEM ALONE FOR 18 - 24 MONTHS AFTER BECAUSE OF MALABSORTION. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I WAS TO SWITCH TO DEPO SHOTS OR A HORMONE INPLANT, ARE THEY OK TO HAVE DURING SURGERY AND DO THEY HAVE A MALABSORTION ISSUE AFTER SINCE THEY ARE NOT TAKEN BY MOUTH?

THANKS

You would probably be best with an iud like mirena or possibly the nuvaring. I know so many horror stories with depo but there are lots of other options than bc pills. If your fun can't help seek out a reproductive endocrinologist / infertility specialist

Thanks Jamie, I have appt with Dr. next week. I don't think I can get Mirena, haven't had any kids. But will see what she says.

It's worth asking about. It was an option for my heavy bleeding even though I haven't had children either. I think its just slightly less effective, but still very effective overall
