18lb WEIGHT GAIN!!!!!
HAHAHAHA!!!
GOT YA!!!!
Im actually talking about my dog Sadie the Newfie!!
shes gained 18 lbs this year!
IDK if anyone remembers but, one of my goals was
to weight less than her (when she was 140) I accomplished that
almost a year ago...is it sad that my first thought was like
OOOH! I got major wiggle room now!!!
her Dr wasn't concerned about her weight gain at all
since she's still within breed standards, but I think were gonna have to cut back on some
of her salmon jerky treats!!!
I must say..she can rock a big, fat, furry ass like no other!!
hope a gave you all a good chuckle today!!!
Your dog beefed up for the same reason we humans did. They add a ton of grains to standard dog food, which dogs wouldn't eat in the wild. Those grains will add weight to animals just the same as humans. Ask any farmer.
Unfortunately, I don't have a dog (sad for me), because my oldest child is allergic to dogs and cats, so I can't recommend any good dog food alternatives.

Google NSNG and learn the right way to eat each day
Her weight gain is directly MY FAULT!!
she is 5 and has always been around 140
give a little...however this past year she has been turning her nose up
at her kibble (which is WAY ODD for her) so I added a tablespoon of plain
yogurt..then she started turning her nose at that..so I kinda started adding
leftovers..(she's in hog heaven now!) Dr doesn't have a prob w/yogurt
very good for their coat and digestion but suggested I cut her kibble back from 2cups 2x a day
to 1.5 cups 2x a day in the hopes she gets her appetite back..
I had a Great Pyrenees previous and she was THE pickiest eater..Sadie however will climb in your lap and
drown you in drool to get what you have...
Tracy let me tell you...
maintenance is a *****!!!
i have been maintaining pretty much since December
with the exception of seeing 138 for a nano-second..
I realized that day I looked too gaunt
and have been happily living at 140-145 since, (for the most part)
right now I'm at 148 so I have a little to take off..
and that seems to be how my maintenance
is going ..if I'm up a little..I tighten up..if I'm in my comfort zone
i get a little lax a couple days and then have to tighten up..
I'm hoping once I start working out again I can increase calories a bit..
right now I lose 1/2 to 1 lbs a day on 1000-1200..
i just figured this out last week so it was kind of a breakthrough!
I am always watching my dogs' weight. They aren't Newfies, more medium sized than that, but they can put 5 pounds on in one season and it really shows. I can't find their ribs! I recently found a kibble that gets all the nurients from real food, not chemical additives. It has millet in which has a lower GI than potatoes or peas (even sweet potatoes) and they are doing great one it so far. the Std. Poo is right at 68 pounds and the std labradoodle is 65. I still can't lift theminto the car but they are super healthy. I worry about Diabetes, hince the kibble change :D
I have always thought that if someone managed my intake the way I manage theirs I never would have gotten over 200 pounds!
Oh, and I treat with baby carrots, avocado, banana, aspargus. Can't hurt and they love most of them...
