8 days post op/incisional pain
I'm a worrier and over analyzer. It's just who I am. I had VSG on 7/28 and up until this past Saturday I was fine with all incisions. I started having a sharp burning pain on one of my 5 incisions. I'm 8 days post op and feel like I had surgery yesterday. It's hard to sit anywhere without yelling in pain. I can't wash my dishes, I can't open the windows, I can't even push my nutribullet down so I can make my shake because this pain that I feel is excruciating. I have to hold the part of my stomach where the incision is to have some comfort. I went to my one week f/u today and the doc said it was weird that I was having pain in that one incision since its not even the big one where my stomach was pulled. She said that maybe because I'm moving more I'm having more pain or now that my swelling is going down?? She gave me some meds for muscle spasms cause I told her that even if I'm sitting somewhere not moving I'll get this pain outta nowhere thru the same incision so she said to try these meds for 2 days and if it doesn't get better she will do a CT to make sure a stitch didn't break or I don't have a hematoma. I'm very worried. This whole surgery hasn't gone as expected and there's nothing even wrong with the new stomach itself. Has anyone ever had complications with an incision? Am I worrying too much or just over analyzing? I just want to be able to do things again without being in pain. This is so frustrating. Please help.

I had my bag on 7/18 and went through the exact same pain you are describing.I am going into surgery again tomorrow because it was my internal stitch , it was ditched into a nerve or muscle the doctor thinks .we will find out tomorrow.I understand the pain you are having ,I can't do anything to relieve mine.
Probably a silly question - but are you taking pain meds and the muscle spasm med?
Where, exactly is the pain? In the incision? In your back at all?
I would probably ask for a CT scan to see if anything was going on.

Hey Gwenmo. I am taking hydrocodone but wasn't really helping. My pain was at the incision area and traveled towards my belly button. I posted only a few hours ago and I was still having pain and amazingly this morning I got out of bed without a problem, I used the bathroom without a problem, I took my dogs out without holding my belly in. How does this happen?? How is it that yesterday I couldn't take the pain and today it's like I never had it. I don't want to jinx myself but thank God I feel better today. When I first got out of the hospital they didn't prescribe any muscle spasm meds until yesterday which I'm going to pick up from pharmacy today and still take them. I had no back pain or any other pain except for the incision. I also took your advice and took some mirolax with my protein shake yesterday. Thanks for all your help.
Fingers crossed that maybe it was just a weird muscle strain that has now passed! I certainly hope so!
