Protein powders and lead/arsenic eats
I am about to embark on this journey as well. I've always paid attention to these protein drinks because my son is an avid believer in them and I've always worried ...especially after reading Consumer Reports. Are the doctor-prescribed shakes better and more guaranted to have none of the garbage in them? I have always been leery of the vitamin industry since they are not regulated either? Do any of you have these worries concerns or is it just me?
Since I don't grow all of my own food, I already know that I'm ingesting chemicals I can't control. So I can't be too bothered about my protein shake a day.

I could be a little overly concerned because I had very aggressive breast cancer at age 36 I'm now much older now but the doctors gave me a terrible prognosis so I'm very grateful for each year I'm here. I've always been very concerned about what I put in my body since that terrible time in my life. My kids were 2, 4 and six and I had aggressive chemo for a year, with radiation therapy double mastectomy and lymph node dissection. Those were the days when there was nothing for nausea so I was deathly ill most of that year... Anyway those protein drinks of have gotten really bad rap when they take them apart and figure out what's in them ....so I'm hoping there's a doctor prescribed drink. Id feel a lot better
I certainly do what I can - I buy my meat from a local farmer and I rely on local produce during the growing season. But I can't get too worked up about a 4 year old CSR study.
I would definitely recommend talking with your surgeon or NUT about your concerns, though.

There is a couple of organic, grass fed brands. They are pricey, but if you are in a spot where you need to be more careful than average, you can try those. I think they are Terra's Whey, and I can't remember the other. Vitamin Shoppe carries both in the natural section, not with the regular whey (at least at my store).
