Pre-op struggles

I started my pre-op diet (protein drinks and unlimited veggies) last Tuesday on the 28th and my surgery is a week from tomorrow (11th).  I have had trouble with certain things. First of all, I have been stalled the last 3 days after losing 9.5 lbs in the first 3 days. I know that's a huge amount of weight to lose so fast, but I'm also frustrated because I've had a difficult time adjusting to this diet, and now I'm not seeing any difference in weight.

The other issue is the horrible diarrhea that I've had since Thursday night. At first I thought it was my body adjusting but it continues to get worse so I did some investigating and I think it's the sucralose that's giving me the upset stomach. I've been drinking mostly isopure, as I really don't like the shakes. I'm not a fan of milk, whether real or not (tried almond and soy).  And everything seems to have sucralose in it!  Does anyone have any suggestions/advice to help me get through this second week?

Whoa, back up the truck.  Weight loss pre-op isn't really a concern unless you have some programs that mandates it.  Barring that, your only objective is to follow the plan and shrink the liver to make the surgery safer.

At least wait until week three post op to start in about the "stalls" LOL

The only thing I can advise on the second issue is that there are many ready made shakes which are lactose free.  I recommend anything by Lean Body or Oh Yeah! But there are other good ones.  The chocolate and cookies & cream versions are great.

I know that weight loss isn't the most important part of this 2 week preop diet but because I'm keeping my intake under 1200 calories I'm feeling frustrated because I'm not losing anything the past 3 days.  Thanks for the advice and the shake recommendations!

Don't worry. Stay off the scale.   My friend found out she was allergic to the whey powder.

How did she find that out? What were her symptoms?

I use unsweetened almond milk with optimum whey powder from amazon. Neither of these things have sucralose.

Thanks, I'll try out that brand of powder

Unflavored protein powder and the unjury chicken soup flavor don't have sucralose, and I found that warm liquids went down better post surgery anyway, so  I definitely recommend the unjury.

Thanks. I have wanted to order the unjury chicken soup. I have to wait until payday this Thursday but I definitely will get it!

I am also allergic to the sucralose. If you search around, there are brands of protein powder which don't have it. I use the "About Time" brand, which comes in a lot of flavors and uses stevia. It's also not as sickly-sweet as the Chike and Unjury brands (maybe my taste buds are sensitive?) and the flavors are more muted. Unfortunately I haven't found a RTD protein that I can have yet.
