So I am headed to Seattle this weekend, and it will be my first time flying post-op. I'm a little nervous because when I had the LapBand, I had a terrible time being able to eat during and after a flight for a day or two. Has anyone had any issues flying postop-

I have flown a few times now.  I had the band and know what you are talking about.  I did just fine with the sleeve. I might have had slightly more restriction for a day or two, like I had at 8 months which was good as I was flying to cruise.   It isn't anything like the band.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I agree with pineview - nothing like the band was.  When I traveled with the band (and I did...a lot), sometimes I couldn't even get liquids down.  The sleeve?  No problems!

I have flown several times since surgery. My surgery was in Mexico so I had to fly 4 days post op.  I was fine.  Take some VSG friendly snacks with you, and make sure you stand to stretch your legs and walk around when/if you can.  You will love how loose the seat belt is post op! My favorite part of flying ;)

I flew 4 days after.  It was pretty miserable.  I was uncomfortable and cramped, I would recommend getting an aisle seat so you can lift the arm rest and fill a little extra space in the aisle when there is no traffic (frequently) and if you can pick your seat online ask to cover an emergency exit.   Best of luck.

I flew about 125,000 miles in the year after I got the VSG, starting from 3 days post surgery, and a trip to India (20 hours flying each way) within 45 days of surgery.

No problems whatsoever.
